Cytec Launches New Additive Kits for Coatings

Cytec is happy to announce the launch of new additive kits for coatings. These kits contain advanced, low VOC additives from the ADDITOL®, CYCAT® and MODAFLOW® product lines, and feature a range of problem-solving solutions that address flow and leveling, pigment dispersion, rheology, and cure and foaming. The Cytec additives kits are available globally, and the additive selections are uniquely arranged for applications, including:
- Industrial and Transportation coatings
- Architectural and Protective coatings
- Low VOC

Ming Tsang, Group Leader of Technical Service and Development-Liquid Coating Resins & Additives Business Unit, will present ”New Waterborne Cationic Resins For Wood Primers” on February 18, 2009 at The Waterborne Symposium in New Orleans, LA.
The presentation will highlight novel waterborne resin technologies designed for low VOC, stain blocking primers for architectural wood. Coatings developed with these new waterborne resins perform equal or better than conventional solventborne stain blocking primers, and far exceed the performance of commercial waterborne stain blocking primers. Tannin stain blocking, topcoat acceptance, water and humidity resistance are achieved without the use of zinc oxide pigments. Additionally, this new technology performs well in the development of corrosion resistant metal primers.
The symposium is sponsored by the Department of Polymer Science at the University of Southern Mississippi.

It is our pleasure to tell you that in 2009 we will have the ability to produce BECKOPOX™ EH 623w/80WA in Langley, South Carolina. Waterborne products are a strategic focus for Cytec; therefore, we are making an investment in North America to support growing demand and service levels. The commissioning of these assets will begin in April 2009 with plans to transition to domestically-supplied BECKOPOX EH 623w/80WA sometime in the Second Quarter of 2009.
